Karl-Anthony Towns Shows Growth and Impact for Knicks
Karl-Anthony Towns has been open about the efforts he’s putting in for his team.
At the season’s onset, Knicks coach Mike Brown noted that Towns had made the most significant adjustments to the offensive strategy, particularly after a slow start in terms of efficiency.
By midseason, Brown acknowledged that he had tweaked some aspects to help propel Towns’ performance.
Now, Towns seems to have found his groove, showcasing some of his best basketball this season. Since the All-Star break, he’s logged an impressive 20.9 points per game with a shooting percentage of 58.9% from the field, and 43.1% from beyond the arc.
In the 51 games prior to the break, he averaged 19.8 points per game but struggled with a shooting percentage of 46.6% from the field and 35.1% from three-point range.
“I just want to be where I’m supposed to be and impact a win,” Towns remarked after the Knicks’ recent victory over the Pacers. “I’m playing a different role this year, but I’m glad to affect wins and make the most of my role as a star. I’ll do whatever it takes for our team to reach its best potential, especially now that we’re in the second half and need to raise our standards.”
In other news, Josh Hart appears to be regaining his shooting touch.
In the last five games, he has hit 9 of 14 three-point attempts, including a perfect 5 for 5 in Tuesday’s match.
Hart had an excellent shooting efficiency from beyond the arc early in the season but faced significant struggles after the All-Star break. His ability to shoot adequately is crucial for the Knicks’ offense, as opponents often focus on him to help contain other players when his shooting falters.
“I think it’s the first time since All-Star,” Hart reflected. “We were really struggling with our filming, so I just need to trust my role and go out there and shoot.”
Additionally, Jose Alvarado has made a mark on the team, already ranking fifth among defensive players despite only participating in 19 games with the Knicks, earning his third recognition following Tuesday’s win.
