MINNEAPOLIS — Karl-Anthony Towns scored 62 points, 44 of which came in the first half Monday night, setting two Minnesota Timberwolves franchise records.
Towns surpassed his previous career best of 60, which was also a Minnesota state record. However, the Wolves lost to the Charlotte Hornets 128-125.
Towns made 21 of 35 from the field, 10 of 15 from 3-point range, and 10 of 14 from the foul line. He missed his 3 at the buzzer.
In the first half, Towns made 14 of 17 from the field and 8 of 9 from 3-point range, giving the Timberwolves a 69-64 lead. His eight 3-pointers in the first half were just two away from an NBA record.
