Karoline Leavitt slams AP reporter for ‘clearly’ failing to grasp Trump’s tariff plan after heated exchange

White House press director Karoline Leavitt accused Associated Press reporter Josh Balk of “failing” to watch President Trump's “long-term economic strategy” in an interview on Sunday.

Leavitt's comments came after a press conference on Tuesday when Boak asked about Trump's speech at a Business Roundtable (BRT) quarterly meeting.

He claimed, despite Trump promoting tax cuts. His last BRT meeting in 2024he is currently promoting “tax increase” through tariffs.

Bork pushed further despite Lewitt's objections, despite saying, “I'm interested in why he prioritizes tax cuts.”

“He's not actually paying taxes,” replied Levitt. “Taxes are tax hikes in foreign countries that have once again separated us. Taxes are tax cuts for the American people, and the president is a solid advocate for tax cuts.”

When Boak claimed that importers, not foreign companies, would bear the brunt of the tariffs, Spat escalated and asked, “Sorry, did you pay the tariffs? Because I have them.”

The Associated Press says it was banned from oval offices rather than using the “Gulf of Mexico”

Levitt fights back, calling it “shaming” and “shaming” to test it [her] Knowledge of economics and its decisions [Trump] I made it. ”

Revisiting Spat on Sunday, Leavitt called for a wider mainstream media to focus on “sensationalism… Rather than asking harsh questions with honest integrity and journalistic curiosity. ”

“That's why trust in mainstream media has fallen to record low levels, so the White House welcomes it with a briefing room and with an independent voice and new media that truly cares about truth, integrity and accuracy, along with this president's report.”
