Karl-Anthony Towns has switched gears, or in this case, shifted gears.
The Knicks star was taunted by fans early in Wednesday's game against the 76ers for wearing an Eagles sweater while he sat on the bench with a thumb injury at the Wells Fargo Center.
Now, in the second half, KAT started wearing a more team-appropriate blue and orange top, a NYON (New York or Nowhere) branded long-sleeve rugby shirt. Similar to what's available at the official Knicks merchandise store.
It's unclear whether Towns was told by the team to make the change or if he heard online backlash from Knicks supporters.
Towns started the game wearing retro Eagles gear, a decision echoed by teammate Jalen Brunson.
That didn't stop fans from criticizing Towns, an unabashed Eagles fan.
“I can't believe this Eagles KAT is on the bench. He should be fined,” one fan wrote on X.
“KAT, why are you wearing an Eagles jacket when we're playing Philadelphia,” another angry supporter retorted.

Towns missed the game with a sprained thumb and bone fragments, the Post reported Wednesday.
Wearing Knicks gear on the court this season, Towns excelled in his first year in New York, averaging 25.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.
