Kate Gosselin experiences criticism online following revelations from son Collin's memoir

Kate Gosselin is once again facing criticism after her son Colin announced he plans to release a memoir, reigniting interest in the family’s ongoing disputes.

While Gosselin typically shares updates about her rescue dogs, the news of Colin’s book led to a wave of negative comments from social media users, who seized the chance to question her parenting, with some labeling her a “monster.”

One commenter remarked, “I grew up watching that show, and I always knew you were a monster.” Another user pointedly stated, “Taking better care of your dog than your child is certainly an option.” This criticism comes amidst longstanding tensions in the family.

In a recent video, one user wrote, “Hey, you chased everyone away, the dog and the kids. At least you’re going to bring the dog back.” Another comment read, “Save the dog, but abandon the child.”

However, not all reactions were negative. Many users defended her, sharing supportive messages. “Sending love from mother to mother! I wish you peace. I know how much you love all of your children,” one wrote.

Another commenter said, “None of us should criticize Kate. As a mother, I can’t imagine what she must be feeling.”

One user emphasized empathy with, “Kate, my heart is with you. I can only imagine the heartache you must bear because of your ungrateful adult children. Years of sacrifice and dedication only a mother knows.”

Last month, Gosselin, now 51, responded to allegations made by Colin, who claimed she “forced” him and his siblings apart, fostering conflicts between them as they grew up.

Some fans suggested that if she believed the allegations were false, she should pursue legal action. Kate replied, expressing her frustration with the limitations imposed on public figures, saying, “I can’t say I’m a public figure. Unfortunately, the rules are different.”

She later noted that, “Sadly only parents of mentally ill children can understand! It’s so hard and I’ve learned that children don’t have the ability to understand unless they experience it themselves.”

Colin’s memoir, titled *In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood*, is set to be published in October. He recently shared its cover and mentioned, “For a long time, I wasn’t sure if I was going to tell this story.” The cover art depicts him as a child, seemingly silenced by his mother’s hand.

In his own words, he explained, “Growing up, millions of people watched my life on TV. I felt like people knew me. They knew my family, too. But there was so much they never saw.” Colin revealed that he had kept his experiences private for years due to fear and doubt about being believed. “Writing this book forced me to revisit some of the most difficult moments in my life, but it also gave me something I had been looking for for a long time: my voice,” he concluded.
