Kate Hudson, like her frequent co-star Matthew McConaughey, has admitted that she never wears deodorant.
“We’re naturals, you know that?” she said with a satisfied smile. Wednesday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”
The actress shared the hygiene tidbit after host Andy Cohen answered a fan’s question about whether she forced McConaughey to use deodorant while filming the 2008 romantic comedy “Fool’s Gold.”
“No! He doesn’t wear deodorant,” she replied. “And neither do I.”
Hudson, 45, also admitted that he had a distinctive smell, revealing that she “could smell him from…” [a mile away].”
The “Dallas Buyers Club” star previously spoke about the topic. In a 2008 interview with Playboy magazineDuring filming, Hudson reportedly hinted that she needed something to cover up her body odor.
“She would bring in rock salt and ask if I could put on some kind of natural deodorant,” recalls McConaughey, 54. “I never did. I don’t wear cologne, I don’t wear deodorant.”
He added: “All the women in my life, including my mother, have always told me, ‘Listen, your natural smell is a man’s smell first and your own smell second.'”
The actor’s “Tropic Thunder” co-star, Yvette Nicole Brown, has revealed that she will be appearing in the upcoming 2021 An episode of SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show.”
“He has no smell. He smells of granola and the good life,” she explained at the time. “He has his own very sweet smell, not musty or weird.”
This was the first time an Academy Award winner revealed she hates deodorant. Profile of the Sexiest Man of 2005In it, he told People magazine that he hasn’t used common hygiene products in “20 years.”
Hudson revealed she has a similar stance to McConaughey on deodorant when she also said she’d be “open” to a sequel to the 2003 film How to Make a Man Full in 10 Days.
“All that matters is the script and whether Matthew and I are interested in it,” she said on Watch What Happens Live.
“I think we’re both totally open about it, it’s just that it’s never happened.”
