Kate Middleton to attend Wimbledon men’s championship in second public appearance since cancer diagnosis

Kate Middleton will attend the men’s singles final on Sunday, marking her second public appearance since announcing that she is undergoing treatment for cancer, Kensington Palace confirmed on Saturday.

The 42-year-old Queen returned to public duties last month when she attended the March of the Colour with her family for the King’s official birthday celebrations. Her last official engagement before that was attending a church service at Sandringham on Christmas Day.

After undergoing scheduled abdominal surgery in January, there was speculation that she would step back from public duties, and in March she announced in a personal video that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy.

Ahead of her military service in June, she posted a personal message on her Instagram page saying her treatment was “going well” and acknowledging that she had “good days and bad days.”

“I am learning to be patient, especially in times of uncertainty,” she wrote, “taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this time I need to heal.”

She also said the treatment is expected to continue over the next few months.

Her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, were seen without their daughter on day four of Wimbledon earlier this month.

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital last month that Kate’s next goal after Trooping the Colour is to play at Wimbledon.

“She is one of the most avid tennis fans and a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, so is usually in the Royal Box watching most of the major matches and presenting the trophies to the winners.”
