Kathryn Crosby, ‘The 7th Voyage of Sinbad’ star and widow of Bing Crosby, dies at 90

Actress Katharine Crosby, best known for her roles in “The 7th Voyage of Sinbad,” “Anatomy of a Murder” and “The Mad Balls,” and widow of legendary singer Bing Crosby, has died. She was 90 years old.

Crosby died of natural causes on Friday at his home in Hillsboro, California, surrounded by his family, a Crosby family spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital.

Often credited under the stage name Catherine Grant, Crosby co-starred with Tony Curtis in the 1957 film Corrie and with Victor Mature in the 1959 film The Big Circus.

Crosby co-starred with Richard Kiley in 1955's Phenix City, with Jack Lemmon in 1957's Mad Balls, and with James Stewart in 1959's Anatomy of a Murder.

According to biographers, Bing Crosby was depressed while recording “White Christmas.”

She appeared in five films with noted film noir director Phil Karlson, including Tales of Phenix City (1955), Tight Spot (1956), and The Brothers Rico (1957), the latter opposite James Darren.

Born Olive Katherine Grandstaff on November 25, 1933 in West Columbia, Texas, Crosby graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in fine arts. After college, Crosby moved to Hollywood and began her acting career in 1953.

The actress met Bing Crosby when he was filming “Little Boy Lost” in 1953. While working on the set of Bing's film “White Christmas,” Crosby interviewed the Academy Award winner for his weekly column, “Texas Girl,” in a local newspaper.

She became Bing's second wife, marrying him in 1957 when she was 23 and he was 54. The couple had two sons, Harry and Nathaniel, and a daughter, Mary.

After her marriage to Bing, Crosby largely stayed away from an acting career, but made frequent appearances with Bing and their three children in his Christmas specials and in Minute Maid orange juice commercials.

Crosby became a registered nurse in 1963. She appeared in a 1963 episode of “Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theater” and guest-starred in a 1965 episode of “The Bing Crosby Show.”

Crosby wrote his memoirs, Bing and Other Things, in 1967, followed by My Life with Bing in 1983 and The Last Years with Bing in 2002.

In the 1970s, she hosted a morning talk show, “The Katharine Crosby Show,” on KPIX-TV in Northern California.

Crossey was married to Bing until the Hollywood legend died of a heart attack after playing golf in Spain in 1977.

After Bing's death, she appeared in the plays Same Time Next Year and Charlie's Aunt. Crosby co-starred with John Davidson and Andrea McArdle in the 1996 Broadway revival of State Fair.

She hosted the Crosby National Golf Tournament at Bermuda Run in North Carolina from 1985 to 2001.

She was married to Maurice Sullivan for 10 years, but he died at age 85 in 2010 in a car accident that left Crosby severely injured.

Crosby is survived by his three children, Harry, an investment banker and former actor; Mary, an actress known for the TV show “Dallas,” and Nathaniel, a successful amateur golfer, as well as several grandchildren.
