Comedian Kathy Griffin says she “permanently” lost a third of her fan base after the infamous “Trump decapitated” photo that dominated the media in 2017. According to The Hill.
“What breaks my heart is that I’ve permanently lost about a third of my audience because of Trump,” she said. episode From Dan Le Batard’s podcast “South Beach Sessions,” broadcast last Friday.
She continued, telling the host, “I guess some of my viewers are a little bit political or a little bit liberal, but I was known as someone who made fun of Hollywood and the Kardashians and celebrities, so I was a Southern nutjob.”
During the show, Griffin reflected on her career as a comedian and noted how the Trump incident has affected her sense of safety, saying she still has “safety concerns” because “Trump supporters are still coming after me.”

“Nobody posts more pictures of Trump than Trump supporters. They all want me to go to Guantanamo Bay,” she said, adding, “After Trump, everyone was attacking me. And it wasn’t just Trump supporters.”
She claimed her ordeal had been “exaggerated” and slammed the former president for “pursuing” her, leading to Hollywood abandoning her.
Griffin faced intense criticism over a photo of him holding a bloody severed head made to resemble former President Donald Trump, and ultimately found himself under investigation by the Secret Service for conspiring to assassinate the then-president.

As reported by The Hill, she was fired from her role as co-host of CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage and was placed on the no-fly list at the time, which she told Le Batard prevented her from “earning a living,” but that things have now changed in her favor and people are “a lot nicer” than before.
After receiving a ton of backlash from critics, including concert cancellations and death threats, Griffin apologized, but later retracted the apology and even said he “regrets” the move.[ed]”During her podcast appearance, she made the apology, insisting that comedians face no retribution for mocking the president.”
She was also one of many celebrities who spoke out after a Manhattan jury convicted the former president of felony assault last week.

“And Katie, you’ve supported me through all of this and been there for me, and I’m sitting here alone in a restaurant crying,” she said.
One X user who goes by the name “Leahbug” responded to her post, writing, “Kathy, I hate all motherfuckers like you! You’ve been a target for this thug and now he’s finally caused trouble with his gang trolling.”
Griffin responded.“Thank you for saying that. That was awful and he’s awful. Tears of joy.”

Trump was convicted of all 34 counts of falsifying business records, and his legal team has vowed to appeal to the Court of Appeals or higher if necessary.
