Kathy Ruemmler of Goldman Sachs alleged to have had an affair: emails

Goldman Sachs Counsel Linked to Epstein’s Lawyer in Affair Allegations

Kathy Lemmler, the general counsel for Goldman Sachs, is reportedly involved in an affair with Reid Weingarten, who is known as Jeffrey Epstein’s personal lawyer. This comes to light through recently released documents from the Justice Department.

In an email dated June 15, 2015, Weingarten’s spouse, Cheryl Gould, expressed her distress about the situation, writing to Ruemmler about “love with someone else’s husband…”

On that same day, another email from Ms. Gould to Ruemmler spoke of feelings of betrayal, suggesting Weingarten told her that his relationship with Ruemmler made him feel bad. It’s all quite convoluted, isn’t it?

According to insiders, the affair allegedly started when both Rümmler and Weingarten were single, but after Weingarten got married, he confessed his feelings for Ruemmler to Gould. Reports indicate that Ruemmler was taken aback by Gould’s email and chose not to reply. As for when the relationship between Rümmler and Weingarten ended, that remains a mystery.

Attempts to reach Weingarten, Gould, and Ruemmler for their thoughts on the matter have been made. It’s also uncertain when Weingarten and Gould tied the knot, but speculation about their relationship goes back to around 2005.

Gould has spent nearly four decades as a journalist at NBC and notably served as the first female executive producer for a prime-time news program.

Weingarten, who is currently a partner at Steptoe & Johnson, represented Epstein during his federal sex trafficking trial in 2019 and continued to advocate for his interests even after his passing that same year. The two had interacted over various legal and personal matters for nearly a decade, as shown in emails exchanged between them.

Recently, on January 30, the Department of Justice released over three million pages related to Epstein, revealing the extent of Ruemmler’s connections with him.

Email exchanges illustrate that Epstein gifted Ruemmler items worth more than $20,000, including luxury handbags and spa treatments. She, in turn, provided informal guidance on handling the fallout from Epstein’s case, involving drafting public statements and managing media inquiries regarding whistleblower Virginia Giuffre.

Lemmler, who previously advised under President Obama before entering private practice, often described her relationship with Epstein using terms of fondness, referring to him as “Uncle Jeffrey” and having met him numerous times at his New York townhouse, possibly even traveling together.

While Lemmler’s connection to Epstein has been known for some time, the latest email disclosures shine a light on both her familiarity with Epstein and the alleged affair with Weingarten.

Previous reports have noted that Ruemmler, a former official in the Obama administration who once called himself Epstein’s lawyer, maintained a close relationship with the now-disgraced financier.
