Katie Porter Takes a Stand at California Democratic Convention
At the California Democratic Party’s state convention over the weekend, former U.S. Representative Katie Porter, who is running for governor, made a bold statement. She held up a sign that read “F— Trump” and remarked, “Yes, you’re right, Mr. Trump.” She expressed her determination to defeat Trump and his allies in the upcoming elections, asserting that she would confront them just as she had during her time in Congress.
“But this gubernatorial race is about more than just defeating Trump,” Porter continued. “We know what Trump wants to do. He’s going to harm people, strip away health care, and persistently threaten our democracy. This race is really asking us—what are we going to do? What is California’s role in protecting our democracy?” she said.
Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has publicly endorsed Porter for the governor’s seat, highlighting Porter’s commitment to fighting for working families. Porter expressed gratitude for Warren’s support, acknowledging their shared mission to hold the powerful accountable and prioritize people over profits.
“From the moment @katieporterca stepped into my consumer law class, I knew she would be a warrior for working families,” Warren stated. “Katie will champion the bold, progressive vision that California’s workers and families deserve, and I’m proud to support her for California Governor.” This endorsement seems to further strengthen Porter’s campaign as she aims to rally support around these pressing issues ahead of the election.
