In honor of Pride Month, pop star Katy Perry criticized Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, whose recent speech about motherhood and career women sparked fierce controversy.
In an Instagram post, Katy Perry shared an edited video of Butker speaking at Benedictine College, captioning it, “I fixed this for my daughters, graduates and all gay people. You can do anything. Congratulations and happy pride.”
“To the women here today, congratulations on your incredible achievements. You should all be so proud of all you have accomplished in your young lives,” Butker said in the edited video. “How many of you are sitting here on this stage right now thinking about the promotions and titles you will receive in your careers?”

“I predict that the women here today will have successful careers in the world. I tell you this because I have seen it firsthand. And while I cheer them on, I would be happier if the majority of you didn’t also tell me that what you are most excited about is marriage and the children you will bring into this world,” he continued.
The clip ended with an edited version of Butker wishing people a “Happy Pride Month.”
“The future is bright. Things are changing. Society is changing, and people of all ages and genders are changing. Embracing diversity “Equality and inclusion. I want to say Happy Pride Month to you all. Congratulations to the Class of 2024!” he said.
Perry turned off comments on the post.
As Breitbart News reported, Harrison Butker came under fire last month for comments made at Benedictine University, a private Catholic school, in which she condemned abortion and gender ideology while advising women that becoming a mother could be more life-fulfilling than a career.
Some conservatives have defended Butker, saying she was simply extolling the virtues of motherhood, while other critics, on both the left and the right, say her comments are harmful to women by pigeonholing them.
