Katy Perry, Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez will head to space on the Blue Origin NS-31 mission set to launch in the spring of 2025, according to the company.
Blue Origin announced that the famous singer, “CBS Mornings” host and Bezos’ fiancee will form part of the six-person, all-female crew. They will join former NASA rocket scientist and engineer Aisha Bowe, scientist and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn as part of Jeff Bezos’ next mission. Blue Origin said Sánchez “brought the mission together.”

“She is honored to lead a team of explorers on a mission that will challenge their perspectives of Earth, empower them to share their own stories, and create lasting impact that will inspire generations to come,” the announcement said.
“I don’t know how to explain being terrified and excited at the same time,” King said, according to Variety.

King said she spoke with her children and friend and business associate Oprah Winfrey before deciding to embark on the spaceflight.
“This mission will be the 11th human flight for the New Shepard program and the 31st in its history,” Blue Origin wrote on their website.

William Shatner made history when he took a Blue Origin flight to space in 2021 and became the oldest person to travel into space, at the age of 90.
The exact launch date for this mission has not been declared.
