Katy Perry Reflects on Past Relationships During Concert
Katy Perry recently shared her thoughts on her past relationships during a concert, seemingly taking playful jabs at some of her well-known exes like Orlando Bloom and John Mayer. The 40-year-old pop star made these remarks while performing at the Au Son do Caminho festival in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
During her performance of “Never Really Over,” Perry engaged the audience with a giant smartphone prop that showcased incoming calls from her former partners. A video of this moment was shared online.
At one point, when Diplo’s name appeared on the screen, Perry humorously pretended to reject the call, nervously hitting the “reject” button multiple times before playfully covering her eyes and walking away.
Perry had a brief romance with Diplo back in 2014, and they were linked during Coachella while she was on a break from Mayer. In an appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in 2017, Perry ranked her exes in the bedroom, placing Diplo alongside Bloom and Mayer. Diplo later joked about this ranking, calling it a “bronze medal at the Sex Olympics.”
During the concert, the phone prop displayed a call labeled “JM,” which seemed to refer to Mayer, with whom Perry had an on-and-off relationship from 2012 to 2015. She playfully reacted to another call from a contact labeled “OB,” indicating Orlando Bloom, her ex-fiancé. Their relationship began in 2016 and lasted nearly a decade, involving a break, a reunion, and an engagement announcement in 2019. They share a daughter, Daisy Dove, but officially parted ways in June 2025.
After dismissing the calls from her exes, Perry ended the performance with a nod to her current romance with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The phone later showed a call from “JPJT,” likely referencing Trudeau, complete with a Canadian flag and heart emoji.
Fans cheered as Perry dramatically pressed the “Accept” button, symbolically embracing her new relationship. Speculation about her romance with Trudeau began in July 2025 after they were spotted dining together. They made their relationship public during the Tribeca Festival, cuddling on the red carpet.
Perry expressed feelings of being more grounded in her life since meeting Trudeau, stating, “I feel like I’m a more grounded person in many aspects of my life… that show was after I met the love of my life.” She added that having someone to anchor her helps bring completeness to her life.
Recently, the couple was seen sharing a kiss during a picnic in Santa Barbara, California, as they approach their one-year anniversary together.
