Keegan Bradley, the USA Ryder Cup captain, hasn’t had much luck in overcoming challenging mornings for his team.
St. John’s University alumni welcomed former President Trump to the first tee at Beth Page Black by showcasing a performance of the “Trump Dance,” a popular move from the 2024 presidential campaign.
Bradley, at 39, drew enthusiastic cheers from the spectators as he entertained them with his dance.
Trump made his appearance at Farmingdale Golf Club in the early afternoon, accompanied by his granddaughter, Kai Trump.
The crowd enjoyed various performances before the afternoon matches commenced, with the American team hoping to recover after facing a 3-1 deficit earlier in the day.
Just before Trump’s arrival, Bradley expressed optimism that the former president could reignite his team’s energy following a difficult start.
“We flew to the President in Air Force 1, so we felt things were heading here,” he remarked.
On Friday morning, Bryson DeChambeau made an impressive swing, greeting Trump before his second match against Ryder Cup newcomer Ben Griffin.
DeChambeau expressed hope that Trump’s presence would inspire a victory. “I think he will be a great help in rallying support for us,” he noted, highlighting the expected electric atmosphere from the crowd.
Despite their efforts, DeChambeau and his partner Justin Thomas lost to John Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton with a score of 4 & 3.
The European team is defending its Ryder Cup title after securing victory in Rome in 2023.
