Kellan Lutz Talks Move to Tennessee After Pandemic

Kellan Lutz revealed recently that he and his family moved from California to Tennessee three years ago, prompted by the pandemic. “I really love California,” he remarked in conversation with Michael Rosenbaum, adding that the shift came about after the birth of their second child.

The “Twilight” star shared that they relocated from Orange County. His wife, Brittany, has expressed a desire to eventually return to California—ideally somewhere along the coast.

Kellan noted that Brittany hails from Orange County, where her family is based. “Her family’s great,” he mentioned, but acknowledged that many people left California post-COVID for a quieter life, especially those who lost their jobs.

Interestingly, Brittany’s family made the decision to follow them to Tennessee. Lutz explained that the primary reason for moving was to ensure his wife had support while he was working, especially when she was home with the kids.

“We’ve got land, a fantastic Bible study group, a supportive church community,” he said, highlighting some positives about their new life.

He went on to explain a situation where their child fell ill, and Brittany felt overwhelmed, prompting her to ask about relocating. “When she mentioned it, I was all for it,” he recalled.

Other fathers he spoke with pointed out that new moms often want to stay close to their own mothers for support, which, he thought, made sense.

Reflecting on the move, Kellan said, “When they decided to relocate, I was like, ‘Okay, let’s go for it.’ We figured we’d stay a few years, but honestly, it’s been great. There are so many wonderful things about living in Tennessee, especially in Franklin.”

Although they’ve been there three years, he admitted he isn’t sure how long they would remain. “We have this fantastic community,” he noted, “and strangely, I’ve been to more movie screenings in Franklin than I did in Los Angeles during my time there.” 

Still, there are challenges. “We aren’t used to the storms,” he said. “My wife is especially vigilant with the kids around. And I do miss some of the food options, like good sushi and Mexican cuisine.”
