Kelly Clarkson Talks About Dating Challenges

Kelly Clarkson opened up about her dating life during a recent performance in Las Vegas, expressing that it’s pretty tough. “Dating can be very difficult, so I won’t,” the 43-year-old singer said at the July 20 Studio Sessions Show, referring to the struggles she faces. “It’s just hard anyway,” she added, describing the experience as akin to “like a trash can fire.”

Life After Divorce

Since her divorce from Brandon Blackstock in 2021, Clarkson has been navigating single life. She and Blackstock, who married in 2013, went through a formal separation after Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020. They settled their divorce in 2022, with Clarkson awarded primary custody of their two children, although she is required to pay Blackstock $45,000 monthly in child support. Now, she’s living as a single mother in New York.

Clarkson, who recently started her Las Vegas residency titled “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Session,” shared about her hectic life balancing motherhood and her career. “I won’t say that… I do not have… Look, I’m not looking,” she admitted during an appearance on the “Today” show. “I’m very busy. You’ll get this as a mom. I have to focus now.” She noted how her kids’ schedules often feel busier than hers, mentioning how she rushes from her show to baseball practice.

Support from Family

Clarkson finds reassurance from her own mother, who also raised her as a single parent. “My mother tells me, ‘Look, I was a single mother. I couldn’t make it all. They’re fine. You’re fine,'” she recounted. It sounds like she’s really trying to be there for her kids while forming a tight-knit family unit.
