Kelly Clarkson Makes First Public Appearance Post Ex-Husband’s Passing

Kelly Clarkson was spotted at LAX, marking her first public outing since the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. It was a gloomy moment, and she was accompanied by her younger sister Alyssa and her two children, River and Remington, who are both nine years old.

In photographs, the “American Idol” champion was dressed entirely in black, including a somewhat unconventional cowboy hat and sunglasses. She looked quite serious while managing their luggage as they made their way into the airport.

It’s been a tough time for Clarkson, who hasn’t been seen publicly since the news broke about Blackstock’s passing at age 47 on August 7. He had been battling melanoma for several years.

A family spokesperson had shared, “It’s extremely sad to share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. He bravely fought cancer for over three years, passing peacefully surrounded by family. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and kindly ask for privacy during this difficult time.”

On the day before his death, Clarkson had taken to Instagram to announce the cancellation of her upcoming residency show, citing Blackstock’s illness. She expressed gratitude to ticket holders for their support, noting, “I usually keep my personal life a secret, but for the past year, my child’s father has been ill, and I need to be fully present for them.”

Clarkson, 43, was married to Blackstock in 2013, but their divorce was finalized in 2022. Since his passing, it seems she’s been grappling with feelings of guilt, wondering if their tumultuous divorce could have impacted his health.

An insider conveyed to the Daily Mail that while Kelly isn’t blaming herself, she recognizes that the stress of their divorce may have affected him. “Kelly knows stress can impact your body and make someone more susceptible to cancer,” the source remarked.

They also mentioned that the mothers involved “don’t blame themselves,” but there’s an awareness that the combination of their divorce and financial strains were hard on Blackstock. This understandably adds to Kelly’s emotional burden during such a challenging time.

These circumstances have clearly been weighing on her, but she remains focused on her children as they navigate this difficult chapter together.
