At the 2026 BRIT Awards, Kelly Osbourne drew attention not just for her award acceptance but also for her appearance, which ignited criticism from body shamers who were described as having dehumanized the daughter of the late Ozzy Osbourne.
The 41-year-old accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award alongside her mother, Sharon Osbourne, on behalf of her father, Ozzy, and took to social media the following day to respond to those who mocked her. She expressed her dismay, stating, “It’s a special kind of cruelty to hurt someone who is clearly going through something… to doubt my pain and to spread gossip about my struggle.” She emphasized her need for support during this difficult time.
“None of this shows strength,” she added. “It reveals a serious lack of compassion and decency.” Kelly insisted that she wouldn’t let herself be dehumanized in the face of such harshness.
Recently, she had faced similar negativity online. Disturbing comments about her weight included accusations that she looked “like a corpse” and suggestions to “stop eating Ozempic.” These remarks sparked a wave of support from her followers, some of whom questioned the cruelty of such comments, considering that Kelly was grieving her father’s death. One user poignantly asked, “What’s wrong with people? Her father died. It’s called sadness.” Another reminded everyone how inappropriate it was to focus on weight during such a painful time.
On a recent episode of “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Sharon Osbourne defended her daughter in the wake of this online bullying, mentioning the toll Ozzy’s death has taken on Kelly. She said, “She’s not happy. She lost her father” and noted that Kelly struggles to eat. Sharon articulated the harsh reality that online judgments often stem from personal unhappiness in others.
