Matthew Stafford Returns Home After Loss, Shares Sweet Moments with Daughters
After a tough 31-27 defeat against the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, Matthew Stafford quickly made his way home to Los Angeles. Despite the rough day, he shifted back into his role as a dad with remarkable ease.
A heartwarming video posted by his wife, Kelly, on Instagram on Monday captures a candid moment of the Rams quarterback tiptoeing into his daughters’ room. It was just past 2 a.m. when he hugged and kissed them goodnight.
“After giving it all on the field and coming up short, at 2:30 a.m., this was Matthew,” Kelly noted in her post.
In footage from their Nest camera, Stafford can be seen checking on each of his daughters, making sure they were sound asleep in their beds.
This tender family moment was a stark contrast to the intensity of the game he had just played. The 37-year-old had fought hard for hours, aiming to secure another Super Bowl appearance for Los Angeles.
During the game, Stafford completed 22 of 35 passes, accumulating 374 yards and three touchdowns, though he left the field with a bloody hand, which was on his non-throwing side.
Immediately following the game, Stafford demonstrated his sportsmanship by congratulating former teammate Cooper Kupp for their victory.
The next morning, Kelly shared how they surprised their kids with donuts, a small but sweet treat after cheering for their dad throughout the season.
“Thank you for being a rockstar to me all season long!” the couple wrote on the donut box. “You all were the inspiration for a great year for Dad! We love you!”
As the offseason begins, Stafford faces some significant decisions regarding his future. He hadn’t committed to returning for the 2026 season during his post-game discussions in Seattle, but it’s clear that cherishing time with family—and enjoying treats together—are high on his list of priorities.
