Hollywood Dads Welcoming Children Later in Life

It’s not uncommon lately to hear about some big names in Hollywood becoming fathers much later in life. Al Pacino, for instance, is expecting his fourth child this year at the age of 83. And he’s not alone; both Robert De Niro and Kelsey Grammer have welcomed new children in their 70s.

Here’s a glance at various celebrity fathers embracing parenthood later on.

Al Pacino

In June 2023, Al Pacino became a father again with the birth of his son Roman, making him Hollywood’s oldest new dad at 83. A source mentioned that “Al loves being a father and always will,” emphasizing how important parenthood has been for him. He shares Roman with Noor Alfallah, although they’ve since separated. Apart from Roman, Pacino has three older children: Julie Marie, 36, and twins Anton and Olivia, 24.

Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro welcomed his seventh child, a daughter named Gia, in April 2023. He humorously corrected an interviewer about his number of kids recently, turning the conversation light. Reflecting on fatherhood, he mentioned the joy it brings him, especially when he looks at Gia. De Niro has a broad family with six older children from previous relationships.

Mick Jagger

Mick Jagger became a father for the eighth time in December 2016. His youngest, Deveraux, was born when Jagger was 73. Jagger shared his thoughts on parenting, humorously noting that it’s not quite like riding a bike. He revealed that having to adjust after so many kids brings a different perspective. He also acknowledged how having more children made him more relaxed in certain aspects.

Kelsey Grammer

Kelsey Grammer recently added another child to his family, this time a son named Christopher. He talked about his recent realizations about potentially neglecting older children while juggling a bigger family. On a podcast, he revealed he’s making an effort to reconnect with his older kids while navigating parenthood with younger ones.

Richard Gere

Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra Silva welcomed their second child, James, in April 2020 when Gere was 70. They also have a six-year-old son, Alexander. Gere has an older son from a previous marriage, adding to his diverse family background. He seems to embrace fatherhood with a sense of joy.

Billy Joel

Billy Joel welcomed his third daughter, Remy Anne, in October 2017, at 68. He’s been open about his enthusiasm for fatherhood, sharing how it’s been a lifelong dream for him. Having daughters is particularly meaningful, especially since he didn’t have a father growing up.

Steve Martin

Steve Martin became a dad for the first time at 67 with the birth of his daughter Mary in December 2012. The actor expressed joy in being present for his child, commenting on how his focus shifted from career ambitions to enjoying family time. He described fatherhood as a wonderful experience.

As these stars show, it’s clear that age is just a number in the journey of becoming a parent, and many are finding fulfillment in their roles regardless of when they come to it.
