Kelsey Grammer Welcomes Eighth Child
Age doesn’t define the joy of family, or so it seems for Kelsey Grammer, who recently welcomed his eighth child. At 70, he expressed the immense happiness shared by his family following this new addition.
“My family is overjoyed,” the ‘Frasier’ star mentioned in a recent interview. “We’re all having a really good time. It’s really nice,” he added, speaking about life at home with the newborn.
Grammer described the experience of having his new baby, Christopher, as “amazing and wonderful.” He feels a strong sense of unity in his family, saying, “We are closer than ever as a family and I am proud of that.”
Kelsey and his wife Kate Walsh, who is 46, are also parents to a daughter, Faith, aged 12, and sons Gabriel, 10, and James, 8. Beyond these children, Grammer has four other kids from previous relationships—Spencer, 41; Greer, 33; Mason, 23; and Jude, 20.
This latest news of their growing family was shared during a podcast appearance, where he joyfully announced, “We just had our fourth child, so we now have eight children.” His excitement was evident as he spoke with the podcast hosts.
Reflecting on his relationship with his children, Grammer once said that the happiest moments come when all his kids are together in one room. It’s a sentiment he cherishes, despite acknowledging the complexities of family life. He described his journey as “painful and challenging,” while also noting the richness it brings to his existence, adding, “It’s a wonderful life. That’s what I want to tell them.”
Grammer and Walsh’s bond deepened when they met on a flight in 2009, a time when Grammer was still navigating the end of his previous marriage. He has been supportive of Walsh as she addressed personal challenges in her memoir related to her sister’s tragic past.
In a heartfelt moment, he shared how reading her book brought them closer, reflecting on the love and patience they’ve cultivated together. “I definitely lost a lot of joy, and this gave me that back,” he said, highlighting the transformative power of their relationship.
