Kendall Coyne Schofield experiences a special moment on the ice with her son

Heartwarming Moment for Team USA Forward

Kendall Coyne Schofield and her son are soaking up the moment.

After clinching the gold medal with a 2-1 victory over Canada at the Olympics, the 33-year-old Coyne Schofield shared a touching snapshot on social media featuring her young son, Drew, proudly wearing the medal around his neck.

“Gold medal moment,” she posted on X, expressing how “dreams definitely come true!” This win marked Team USA’s first gold at the Winter Olympics since 2018, thanks in part to Megan Keller’s goal in overtime.

For Coyne Schofield, this victory feels especially meaningful. With this being her first Olympics since her son was born in 2023, she remarked on the experience’s significance. “It’s really special,” she told NBC. “This journey has been quite the ride. I’m overjoyed for our team—after having a baby two and a half years ago, this feels like an extraordinary accomplishment.”

Reflecting on the game, she noted that while the team struggled initially, trailing 1-0 late in the third period, they managed to find their groove when Hilary Knight tied the score just two minutes before overtime. “The first period was rough for us. We were a bit jittery, I suppose,” she admitted. “But as the game progressed, we regained our rhythm.”

The team tackled early nerves, echoing a growing tension that many face before a championship showdown. “Once we got into our flow, it felt like the ice was finally tilting our way.”
