Kendra Duggar has shown her support for her husband, Joseph Duggar, following allegations of child sexual abuse against him.
Legal documents reveal that Joseph first reached out to Kendra from the Washington County Jail in Arkansas on March 23. He wrote, “I hope this makes you feel better. I love you!”
Kendra quickly replied, expressing her love and wishing him good luck.
Joseph, who pleaded not guilty to the charges related to the sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl, continued the conversation the next day. He mentioned how pleasant it was to hear her voice and expressed hope for her day, along with a prayer from Psalm 54 replacing personal pronouns with their names.
The former reality TV star, married to Kendra since 2017, said that the psalm brought him comfort.
Kendra, mother to their four children, responded with overwhelming enthusiasm, reiterating her love for him. She drew from song lyrics, particularly from Megan Woods’ favorite song, sharing lines that resonate with the themes of belonging and truth.
At this point, Joseph was facing serious charges related to an incident that took place in Florida in 2020, where a then-9-year-old girl alleged that he had hurt her during a vacation trip.
In mid-March, a teenage girl accused Joseph of inappropriate behavior during that vacation. Remarkably, once he offered an apology, the allegations seemed to fade away.
Joseph faced charges including lewd and lascivious acts involving a minor and acts against persons over 18. Additionally, he was charged with several counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment.
It has been reported that he confessed to the encounter after being questioned by the victim’s father, leading to his arrest and subsequent charges in Florida.
Kendra was also arrested on the same day as Joseph but was released shortly after.
In recorded prison calls, the couple discussed their situation, mentioning the loss of their children and the disappointment of their families. In a lighter moment, they even noted their fitness routines during his time in prison.
Joseph has since posted bail set at $600,000 and returned to Arkansas, with a court date scheduled for May 18.
