Kennedy Center Lays Off ‘Social Impact’ Employees

The John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, reportedly dismantled the “Social Impact” initiative and fired employees on the project.

“This decision comes after careful consideration and is based on the staffing needs of the Kennedy Center,” said Kennedy Center's vice president of human resources. Get NPR.

Seven of the social impact-related employees were notified on Tuesday that they had been fired, but three other staff members who have not focused on the clear goals of the initiative to provide outreach programs to communities that do not want local services have also let go of the arts director of Social Impact, Mark Bamuti Joseph.

“How do you access American promises if you don't have access to the impulse of creativity?” complained Joseph.

“As a national cultural center, the Kennedy Center is obliged to ask that question every day, in order to respond to the call of a name that imagined America, “not afraid of grace and beauty,”” he added.

“Our job in social impact was to broaden our cultural radius and imagine that inspiration itself is a constitutional right that is granted to all people in this country,” Joseph concluded.

Last month, President Donald Trump became chairman of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Arts, following the shootings of President Deborah Rutter.

At a Kennedy Center board meeting last week, President Trump said he received a $250 million expansion project in 2019 but was “disappointed” about what the federal-owned building would look like.

“I'm very disappointed when I look around,” said the 45th and 47th Presidents. “The bottom line: It has a huge potential. And we're working with Congress. It's a very public facility and we do what we have to do.”

“We're going to fix that,” added President Trump. “It really is a symbol of our country.”

Meanwhile, the left denounced the president's decision to depoliticize the Kennedy Center along with actress Issa Ray. Hamilton Creator Lyn Manuel Miranda and others cancel their appearance. Drug Queens has been protesting outside the centre after the performance was cancelled, with Vice President J.D. Vance and his family being booed while attending the event recently.

Last month, leftist activists were seen protesting President Trump with a chant and interpretive dance at the Kennedy Center.
