Kennedy Criticizes Rice's Caution to Companies Supporting Trump

Sen. John Kennedy Critiques Susan Rice’s Remarks

Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana has criticized Susan Rice, a former official from the Obama-Biden administration, for what he perceives as a warning regarding consequences for companies supportive of President Donald Trump.

Kennedy asserts that Rice’s comments suggest a Democratic agenda to exact revenge on Trump supporters should they regain control in Congress, as reported by FOX News earlier this week.

In a video he shared, Kennedy expressed:

I think Ms. Rice’s assertion implies that in today’s America, it’s acceptable to use legal means to target political adversaries. That’s quite astonishing coming from someone like her. This sort of thing doesn’t occur in a nation like ours. It should only happen in a place where the Powerball prize amounts to 287 chickens and a goat. We uphold the rule of law here; we support equal protection under that law. No one stands above or below it.

He remarked, “It’s hard to imagine a more reckless statement.”

In an interview with Vox, Rice shared her views in February, saying:

Regarding elites, corporate powers, law firms, and the media, I believe that the outcomes will not be favorable for them. I’m thinking in the short term here. Those who followed their narrow self-interests by siding with Trump are beginning to realize that this isn’t well-received. Trump himself isn’t exactly popular. What he’s currently doing—be it on the economy, low prices, or immigration issues—is largely viewed unfavorably, and there’s a real possibility he might face consequences beyond mere public disapproval. Those who opposed him and triumphed in elections will hold him accountable.

According to Breitbart News, Rice’s remarks reveal the Democrats’ profound resentment and frustration over the rejection of elite policies by voters in favor of Trump’s populist approach during the elections in 2016 and 2020.

This resentment seems to hinder the Democrats’ ability to connect with voters, as the outlet further noted.

Representative Derrick Van Orden from Wisconsin commented that Rice’s statements represent a subtle acknowledgment of communism.

While Rice asserts Trump’s policies are unpopular, a CNN poll indicated that 64% of viewers at the State of the Union believed his policies are steering the country in a positive direction. Also, a recent NBC poll suggested Trump enjoys greater popularity compared to figures like Stephen Colbert, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The paper noted that two former campaign managers for President Obama have cautioned that Democrats face turmoil as they approach the 2028 presidential election, largely due to a lack of clarity on their principles.
