Kentucky man arrested for thousands owed in child support after exiting cruise ship

The father of a deceased child who was on the run and owed more than $100,000 in child support was arrested after leaving a cruise ship in Miami last week, authorities said.

Dominic Weaver, a Kentucky resident, had been lame for more than 10 years when his leave ended after he was taken into custody and brought back to Louisville, WDRB-TV reported.

Detectives from the local child services division flew to Miami and eventually brought Weaver back to the Bluegrass State.

“We don't know when he left, but he fled the jurisdiction, and from the date of his sentencing to this day, and to this day, he has never paid a dime in child support,” said Mike O'Connell, the Jefferson County prosecutor. They have not been paid.”

Weaver, 47, owes between $114,000 and $120,000 in child support, O'Connell said.

O'Connell said Weaver has filed a total of four lawsuits with the child support division.

“Two more of these individuals are poised to be charged again with further felonies,” O'Connell said.
