Keon Coleman’s incredible catch shows the potential impact he could have for the Bills

Keon Coleman Faces Pressure in 2026 NFL Season

It’s safe to say that few players are under as much scrutiny as Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman heading into the 2026 NFL season.

After two lackluster seasons since being drafted 33rd overall by the Bills in 2024, Coleman finds himself in a challenging position. At a press conference announcing the firing of head coach Sean McDermott, owner Terry Pegula made it clear that expectations for Coleman are high. He specifically addressed the situation regarding the young receiver:

“Can I interrupt? I’ll address the Keon situation,” Pegula stated. “The coaching staff pushed to draft Keon. I’m not saying Brandon wouldn’t have drafted him, but he wasn’t his next choice. That was Brandon being a team player and taking advice from the coaching staff who felt strongly about him. He’s taken, for some reason, heat over it and not said a word, but I’m here to tell you the true story.”

With that, Coleman was definitely thrown into the spotlight.

As for his performance in the opening weeks of the 2026 season? Well, it’s been a mixed bag. He caught six passes during Buffalo’s Week 2 win against the Detroit Lions, but in contrast, he could only manage one reception in both the Week 1 victory over the Houston Texans and the Week 3 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Yet, against the New England Patriots, he demonstrated his potential with two key receptions.

One notable catch came on a corner route where he showcased his ability to adjust to an awkward throw:

This impressive catch was likely to earn him a spot on any highlight reel, but what he did later in the fourth quarter was even more memorable.

Some may even argue it’s a candidate for Catch of the Year:

In a crucial 3rd-and-6 situation early in the fourth quarter, Coleman made an impressive grab from quarterback Josh Allen, helping to keep the chains moving in a tightly contested match against the Patriots. Here’s another angle of that remarkable catch:

Plays like this are bound to build trust between him and Allen, as well as with the coaching staff.

That trust was evident just moments later when Coleman caught the go-ahead touchdown for the Bills:

Clearly, Allen has faith in him.

And perhaps even some executives in the Owner’s Box are beginning to feel more confident in Coleman as well.
