Kevin Kisner is one of Team USA's assistant captains, and he provided a great thread on social media midway through the first session of the Presidents Cup.
He expected Russell Henry to get hot during his game against Scottie Scheffler, and the fellow Georgia Bulldog player was exactly right. When Scheffler and Tom Kim exchanged words on Thursday, it wasn't the first time the grouping was in the spotlight.
“My boy Russ is about to start beating them up,” Kisner wrote.
Riggs from Barstool's ForePlay Pod replied to Kisner and said he had a beer ready.
The author didn't have a beer when Kisner found Riggs, so what did the co-captain do? He told the world about it and threw Riggs under the bus.
Kisner called Riggs a weirdo, but it was a joke since they are friends.
Henry's winning streak began on the 14th and 15th holes, where he made back-to-back birdies to earn Team USA's second point. That game was much closer than the score indicated, but those two moments really helped the Americans get the job done.
After Henry made birdie on the 14th, Kisner posted again on Twitter.
The last tweet was when Henry won the point on number 15.
“Mom, I'm missing him again,” Kisner wrote.
Watching the assistant captain live tweet and predict what one of the players will do is great for fan interaction, especially when it comes to a player like Kisner. It's not normal for most people to be on social media during an event, but Kisner is one of a kind, so it felt completely on brand for him to do this.
Kisner's personality is perfect for team events like the Presidents Cup, so it's good to see him being himself.
The American and International teams continued to play five close games throughout the day, but as the session progressed, the American team pulled away. Tony Finau and Xander Schauffele scored the first goals, followed shortly by Scheffler and Henry with the second.
