Key races to watch across primaries in NJ, Montana and more

Presidential elections have been going on for a long time. Donald Trump president Biden All attention has shifted early to the general election, but what makes the presidential primaries interesting is that, as Julia Mueller pointed out this morning, they have revealed the disparity in support that both Trump and Biden suffer from.

Biden continues to cast protest votes over his administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war, which reached a new low late last month when an Israeli attack targeting several Hamas leaders in Rafah killed dozens of Palestinians and injured hundreds.

The president announced last weekend that Israel had made a proposal aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the area while releasing the remaining hostages, and Biden is pressuring Hamas to accept the terms.

But protesters angry at the Biden administration have expressed skepticism and dissatisfaction with the proposal, with an unofficial spokesman saying in a statement that “While it is a welcome development that Biden has endorsed a six-week ceasefire, it will likely fail as long as he continues to stockpile weapons.” [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] “Netanyahu’s war crimes. A permanent ceasefire is needed now.”

The protest votes could take place in several states as soon as tonight. New Jersey and New Mexico.

At the same time, Trump himself may be battling a persistent protest vote. Nikki Haley She still holds a significant share of the Republican presidential primary’s electoral votes, months after dropping out of the race in March.

Haley made a notable move to endorse Trump last week, but her support remains on the ballot in New Mexico and could provide a hint as to whether her support is enough to turn around Trump’s fortunes among Republicans.

Other important federal and state-level elections are also taking place tonight.
