Khloe Kardashian Reflects on Declawing Her Cats

Khloe Kardashian has opened up about her decision to declaw her two cats, admitting she received “really bad advice.” In a recent episode of her podcast, “Khloé In Wonder Land,” she shared, “I’ve never had a cat before. I didn’t know that was a thing.”

She expressed regret over her choice, saying, “I feel really, really bad that I went down this path. I feel like that’s why my cats are in such dire straits, and it was my doing.”

She also explained the safety measures she has in place, sharing that her cats are monitored with air tags and are not allowed near the door. “They have no way to protect themselves, so it’s very scary if they go outside. I’m so sad because they lost their protective gear,” she said.

The reality star mentioned that the two cats, Gray Kitty and Baby Kitty, were initially adopted for her daughter True. However, she described them as “possessed” and claimed they are making her life “miserable” after the surgeries that are largely considered inhumane.

Listeners of her podcast reacted negatively, despite her attempt to clarify that she was unaware of the strong veterinary discouragement against declawing cats. Comments ranged from disbelief to anger, with one person stating, “I can’t believe you declawed a cat. It’s so inhumane and so sad.” Another commenter drew a parallel between declawing and poaching elephants for their tusks, strongly advising against her acquiring more pets.

The Kardashian family has faced criticism previously regarding their treatment of animals. For instance, last December, Kim Kardashian faced backlash from PETA after gifting her children Pomeranian puppies for Christmas. Ingrid Newkirk, the organization’s founder, pointed out that puppies are not toys and criticized Kim for missing the opportunity to advocate for rescue dogs.

In a further note on Kim’s actions, PETA expressed hope that she would reconsider her approach to animal care. They emphasized that dogs require social interaction and should be treated as part of the family, not merely as decorative additions to the home. The group’s concerns were echoed in public reactions to videos of Kim’s puppies that garnered considerable attention online.
