Kim Kardashian Addresses North West’s Bold Look After Online Backlash

Kim Kardashian has shared her thoughts regarding her daughter North West’s recent bold aesthetic, which has stirred up some controversy online.

Recently, North, who is 12, showcased a striking style on TikTok. She had a star drawn under her right eye and her name in cursive on her left cheek. Along with her long blue hair styled in a braid, she wore a fake septum ring and black grills on her teeth.

After a TikTok video by Daily Mail Australia captured attention with the headline “12-year-old North West worries fans with new look,” Kardashian decided to respond in a comment on their post. She mentioned on their joint TikTok account, “This is not a problem at all 😭.”

In the comments, fans defended North as well, with one user expressing gratitude that social media wasn’t around during their own teenage experimentation. Another wrote, “Big news for unemployed and childless people. North West is just going through her pre-teen phase.” Others also pointed out, “She’s just a kid playing in costume with her friends…what’s the problem?”

In a TikTok shared by North, she and two friends sported similar looks while on a private jet.

Kardashian commented on the concerns about North’s appearance in a TikTok video for Daily Mail Australia, saying, “It’s not that big of a deal 😭.” Notably, she has previously defended North’s right to express herself, especially after receiving backlash for allowing her to wear a corset and miniskirt during a family trip to Italy.

Despite the criticism, the mother-daughter duo hasn’t shied away from posting fun content on TikTok. Recently, they shared videos of themselves dancing while wearing wigs, with Kris Jenner even joining them to play with a water gun.

Kardashian acknowledged the challenges of parenting, especially when it comes to trends. She reflected on a previous incident where she felt missteps in allowing North to wear certain styles became public. She mentioned, “It’s so hard and so funny because all the kids are wearing the same thing. But when my daughter tried to wear it, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m not going to wear it anymore.’ Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world.”

The 45-year-old mother of four described North as a kind and creative child. “She listens to me, but if you want blue hair, that’s fine. It makes her happy, and I won’t take that creativity away,” she stated.

In her view, anyone raising children, and especially a single parent to four, is doing the best they can, remaining supportive of each child’s unique self-expression.
