Kim Kardashian sued over photo identifying man as Texas death row inmate

Kim Kardashian faces a lawsuit after posting a photo of New York resident Ivan Kantu, who mistakenly identifies him as a Texas death row inmate with the same name.

Kardashian's lawyer, Michael Rhodes, described the incorrect photo as a “simple mistake” in the statement.

“It was a simple mistake to use a public photo of another man with the same name to promote Kim's long-standing commitment to the causes of criminal justice reform,” Rhodes said in a statement.

“The image was deleted almost immediately once the error was discovered,” Rhodes added.

However, in Ivan Cantu's case, the plaintiff's legal team said the mistake “exposed Kantu to hatred, lightly empty and/or ridiculous laughter.

“Kardashian publishes and spreads false information about Cantu, which is clearly not true, false, unfounded, shocking, scandalous, degraded, dishonest, and/or shameful. “I did,” the lawsuit read.

“The Kardashian publication and dissemination of misinformation about Kantu, an innocent, respected US citizen, has led to Kantu being publicly embarrassing, shame, lightly empty, hatred, ridiculous, disgust and/or dishonor. It was exposed,” the lawsuit continued.

Cantu's lawyer Greg Sobo described the plaintiff as “a man from a very private family with two daughters” and saddened from the loss of his private family when “Kardashian denied his reputation.” He said he was there.

“As a result of Kardashian abuse, Kantu's privacy has been destroyed at a time of most important and sensitiveness, and he suffers from very realistic trauma that lasts for a lifetime,” Sobo said.

The lawsuit states that Kantu “forms of emotional and mental anguish, psychological harm, embarrassment, anxiety, loss of sleep, nightmares, post-traumatic stress, headaches, medical needs, and emotional counseling needs. It shows that he suffered serious emotional damage and injuries in. And loss of reputation.

Sobo highlighted the power of Kardashian's vast reach on social media.

“If anyone knows the power of social media, it's Kim Kardashian. Social media has promoted her fame. For a safer society, Kim Kardashian is responsible for the abuse of social media. It has to,” Sobo said.

In his statement, Sobo added: Cantu did not want to sue the matter. Some of our attempts to contact Kim Kardashian and her team have been ignored. ”

However, Kardashian's lawyers said in a statement that “we prefer to settle this without a lawsuit, but of course they will defend Kim when necessary.”
