Eight lives to go!
A cute little kitten took a challenging trip of 250 miles from Boston to New Jersey.
This six-week-old kitten, named Beemer, was discovered trapped in a pricey electric vehicle after the new car owner heard strange noises coming from its wheels at a home in South Orange on Monday.
“I plugged the car in to charge and heard it meow,” Jeff Rothstein shared.
Rothstein had just enjoyed a ride from Boston with his wife, Lauri, and admitted he was quite worried. “I can’t even imagine what that poor little cat went through,” he reflected. “She’s really a tough one.”
“Honestly, if I had been in that situation, I think I would’ve jumped out right away,” Lauri added.
Whitney Marin, a local animal rescuer who assisted Rothstein, explained, “They were the ones who really helped.” She described the kitten as “frozen.”
“I had tuna and bacon and was playing YouTube videos of crying kittens. Usually, that does the trick,” Marin recalled.
Marin spent three hours under the car while the fire department worked to help, saying, “I can’t believe we allowed the firefighters to lift such an expensive car,” she remarked about the situation.
Returning the next day, Marin brought “a bulk of pre-cooked bacon” to lure the kitten into humane traps.
“I managed to catch her in a trap and wrapped her in a cozy blanket,” Marin said. “She was a bit hissy at first, but it turns out she’s super sweet.”
The kitten, now in good health, remains in South Orange and is in search of a new home.
Marin mentioned she’ll be meeting potential adopters on Friday.
“I’m just grateful this little one survived to share her story,” she expressed. “Otherwise, she might have spent her life in a BMW dealership parking lot. What a happy ending.”
