The Knicks expect Karl-Anthony Towns to perform well in Wednesday's game in Philadelphia.
The four-time All-Star is listed as questionable for the game against the 76ers after suffering what the Knicks say is a sprained right thumb in Monday's loss to the Pistons at the Garden.
Towns played through an injury in the first half, hitting his right hand on the backboard while driving to the hoop, and finished the game with 26 points and 12 rebounds in 43 minutes.
When asked about the condition of his thumb after the game, he repeatedly answered, “That's right,'' but declined to say whether he had undergone an X-ray.
Towns missed three games earlier this season with a knee injury, including last week's game against the Raptors.
Jericho Sims has started in Towns' place in each of those games, but is listed as questionable for the game against Philadelphia after missing Monday night with back spasms.
Jalen Brunson (right shoulder strain) is likely to be on the Knicks.
Towns on the Knicks have a 26-15 record midway through 41 regular season games: “Obviously, there were things we could have done, games we could have gotten back from, things we could have executed differently late in the game.'' Joel Embiid missed his fifth straight game Tuesday night against Oklahoma City with a left ankle sprain.
Andre Drummond (toe), Kyle Lowry (hip), KJ Martin (foot) and Jared McCain (knee) are also out for the Sixers.
