Mitchell Robinson’s return from a one-game absence included some highlights and one really bad lowlight.
“I’m just going to take it like a man,” he said. “I failed.”
Robinson took a pump fake from Tyrese Maxey and dove to the Sixers’ point guard for a four-point play with 25 seconds left. That was the turning point for Philadelphia’s frantic comeback and Tuesday’s 112-106 OT victory over the Knicks.
“I have no choice but to go head-to-head with him,” Robinson said. “I wasn’t ready to play guard or anything. I was a mess.”
Before that play, the center, who was listed as “questionable” entering the night with a sprained ankle, had done a solid job of neutralizing Joel Embiid.
The reigning MVP had a triple-double, but missed 12 of 19 shot attempts and had nine turnovers.
Robinson, who scored just two points in 25 minutes, aggravated a surgically repaired ankle injury in Game 3 against Embiid.
He missed Game 4.
“It sucks, dude,” Robinson said. “You have to try to find your groove and worry about it. The intensity of the playoffs is completely different than the regular season. So you have to find something and stick with it.”
