New York City Honors Knicks Players with Co-Named Streets
In a celebratory gesture, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that several streets across the city will be co-named after players from the New York Knicks. This decision was revealed just ahead of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday night, where the Knicks face off against the Indiana Pacers.
The move comes after the Knicks made an impressive run in the playoffs, surprising many by defeating the reigning champion Boston Celtics in six games. This victory marked their first appearance in the Finals in 25 years. Adams remarked, “The Knicks embody the New York spirit – resilient, passionate, unstoppable.” He added that the street name changes are meant to celebrate the team’s hard work and determination as they advance in the playoffs.
The streets will be named after the players for as long as the Knicks continue their playoff journey. Each co-named street features a sign in the team’s colors—blue and orange—displaying the player’s name and jersey number.
A total of 15 players from the Knicks roster will have streets named in their honor. Notably, last season, the Pacers eliminated a Knicks team that faced injuries during the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
The new street names include:
- Precious Achiuwa Place – 6th Avenue and West Washington Place
- OG Anunoby Alley – 6th Avenue and West 8th Avenue
- Mikal Bridge Block – 7th Avenue and West 25th Avenue
- Jalen Brunson Boulevard – 7th Avenue and West 11th Street
- Pacomb Dadiette Drive – 6th Avenue and West 4th Avenue
- Josh Hart Street – 6th Avenue and West 3rd Avenue
- Arielhuk Porti Street – 7th Avenue and West 55th Avenue
- Tyler Colle Crane – 7th Avenue and West 13th Avenue
- Miles “Deuce” McBride – 6th Avenue and Minetta Lane
- Cam Payne Place – 6th Avenue and Bleecker Street
- Mitchell Robinson Road – 7th Avenue and West 23rd Avenue
- Landry Shamet Circle – 7th Avenue and West 44th Street
- Karl Anthony Towns Square – 7th Avenue and West 32nd Avenue
- PJ Tucker Terrace – 7th Avenue and West 17th Avenue
- Delon Light Circle – 6th Avenue and Houston Street
This initiative adds a unique community spirit during the Knicks’ playoff run and highlights their significance within the city.
