Marcus Morris Sr. is rejoining the Knicks.
The team announced Sunday that Morris signed an Exhibition 9 contract, which will bring the veteran forward back to the city where he played 43 games during the 2019-20 season.
But an Exhibit 9 contract is a non-guaranteed, one-year deal that protects a team if a player suffers a significant injury.
It's another addition for the Knicks, who also signed Landry Shamet to an Exhibition 9 contract as another guard to compete for a roster spot and address issues exposed in last year's playoffs.
With the Knicks' core players returning, most of the rotation and the top spots in the starting rotation have already been decided, and the two will likely be competing for that final spot.
Morris, a 13-year veteran, averaged 19.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in his first game with the Knicks.
He has scored 20 or more points 25 times during his time with the team, including a season-best 38 points in a win over the Clippers on Jan. 5.
After 43 games, the Knicks traded the Philadelphia native to the Wizards in a three-team trade, and he eventually ended up in Los Angeles.
The 35-year-old averaged 6.4 points in 49 games with the 76ers and Cavaliers last season.

He was originally a first-round pick in the 2011 draft and also played for the Rockets, Suns, Pistons and Celtics before signing with the Knicks as a free agent ahead of the 2019-20 season.
In July, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the 76ers were interested in bringing back Morris after signing his former teammate with the Clippers, Paul George, in free agency to a four-year, $212 million max contract.
