The LPGA’s third major championship, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, is halfway through, and Sahalie Country Club has shown its mettle over the first two days.
Half the field went home after Friday’s rounds, including world number one Nelly Korda.
Korda will not be playing in her third straight weekend of matches at her second major tournament. She started the season with five straight wins, including her sixth at the Americas Open at Mizuho.
But things haven’t been going well since that win. Korda missed the cut at the U.S. Women’s Open with a score of 80-70, and then shot 69-81 this week, the best score of her professional career.

It was not a good day for the world number one, especially after starting his week strong on Day 1. Korda began the day with five bogeys in his first six holes, then added two more on the ninth, 11th and 14th holes before being completely ruined by a double bogey on the par-four 15th.
Korda added one more birdie on the par-5 18th hole, but it was too late.
She wasn’t the only one to come home early. I missed the qualifying round Fielding in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship include Anna Nordqvist, Alexa Pano, Emily Christine Pedersen, Robin Choi, Nasa Hataoka, Andrea Li, Danielle Kang, Sofia Popov, Carlota Ciganda, Gemma Dryburgh, Stacey Lewis and Brittany Lincicome.
Sahali gave the women quite a test and sent them home after 36 holes.
