Kremlin says Trump being politically targeted

The Kremlin said former President Trump was being politically targeted and that a “elimination” of political candidates was underway, the day after the presumptive Republican presidential nominee was found guilty of all 34 felony counts in the hush-money case.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov initially declined to comment on the Manhattan criminal case but later said there was a “clear” plan to remove Trump by any means necessary.

“It’s not very nice for someone from the outside world to say anything about our court decisions,” Peskov said in a conference call with reporters on Friday. The Washington Post“And we try not to comment on it either.”

The spokesman later added: “But generally speaking, when it comes to Mr Trump, it’s clear he is using every legal and illegal means to effectively eliminate his political opponents. That’s visible for the whole world to see.”

The former president was found guilty of all 34 felony charges by a New York jury on Thursday. His first criminal case found him guilty of falsifying business records to hide an alleged affair during the 2016 presidential election, which he ultimately won. The sentence will be handed down on July 11, four days before the Republican National Convention.

Russian President Vladimir Putin Chased Activists and dissidents have criticized the four criminal cases Trump faces, which Putin, who won Russia’s election again in March, has denounced as an example of “corruption” in the US political system.

“As for the prosecution of Mr. Trump, I think today’s situation is good for us, because it shows the corruption of the American political system, which cannot even pretend to teach democracy to other countries,” Putin said in a speech at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok last year.
