No need to fret—donuts are on the way.
On Wednesday afternoon, Krispy Kreme playfully rolled out a “Suite Backup Plan” to its customers in light of Verizon’s widespread network outage.
“Feeling down about SOS? Here’s a sweet surprise—we’re here for you,” the beloved donut chain announced via Instagram.
Every Wednesday from 5 PM to 7 PM, Krispy Kreme will give away a free Original Glazed Donut, capturing the essence of having a reliable sweet treat when things go sideways.
This clever initiative, hailed as an example of “marketing genius” by fans online, comes as Verizon struggles with a nationwide outage that left thousands disconnected.
The disruption impacted major urban areas like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, and Washington, D.C., beginning around 9 AM ET and affecting users up and down the coast.
Many have reported issues like complete signal loss, missed calls, and data connectivity problems, according to down detector.
In a brief statement, Verizon acknowledged the problem and assured customers that their engineers were “working quickly to pinpoint and fix the issue.”
The company expressed understanding regarding the frustration tied to connectivity disruptions, stating they are committed to resolving it.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Verizon hadn’t provided any information on the root cause or a timeline for restoring full service. While some users have begun to see their services return, many others remain offline.
Meanwhile, T-Mobile, a notable competitor, took the opportunity to highlight its own service reliability amid the chaos. They communicated, “T-Mobile’s network remains strong, and while we know some customers might struggle to connect with Verizon users, our service is functioning as expected.”
