Kristin Cavallari says her father hurt her son as she reveals more about their separation.

Christine Cavallari has opened up about her estrangement from her father, Dennis Cavallari, alleging that he once “harmed” her son.

“I haven’t spoken to my dad in three years,” the television personality shared on the “Boyfriend Material” podcast with Harry Jawsey earlier this week.

She characterized her decision to distance herself from her father as “one of the best decisions.” Reflecting on her past relationship with him, she stated that it has always been complicated.

Christine, 38, recounted that “he crossed the line with one of my boys,” emphasizing the absence of any accountability or apology from him as a dealbreaker.

“He hurt my child,” she asserted. “I can’t allow that in my life.” She expressed her thoughts on what she would do if she were a parent in a similar scenario.

“Honestly, if I had kids and they wanted to separate me from their lives, I would do everything in my power to prevent that from happening,” she said.

During the podcast, she depicted her father as someone lacking accountability, saying it felt like he behaved in ways that were harmful without ever trying to make amends.

“I’m so sorry” would be an appropriate response, she argued, even imagining her father doing everything possible to fix their relationship. Yet, she insisted he never attempted to correct things.

Furthermore, Christine described Dennis as a narcissist, attributing his behavior to a broader pattern of irresponsibility rather than substance abuse issues.

She reflected on her thoughts about accountability, stating that if she were in his position, she’d make serious efforts to remedy the situation. “I’d think, ‘I’m so sorry,'” she added, highlighting her belief in taking responsibility.

Christine suggested that her father might believe she is to blame for their issues. As a mother of three—sons Camden, 12, Jackson, 11, and daughter Saylor, 9, from her marriage to ex-husband Jay Cutler—she shared insights on her family dynamics.

She’s previously discussed her complicated relationship with Dennis on the “Psychologist Dr. Shelley Campbell” podcast back in December 2023. In her reflections, Christine mentioned realizing her father’s narcissism only as an adult.

Touching on her father’s harmful actions, she expressed a resolute stance: “When you start messing with my child, that’s a line crossing.” She reiterated that taking accountability is vital, stating, “He’s out of my life forever.”
