Liberal podcast host Crystal Ball recently voiced criticism regarding Latino employees of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during an interview. In a discussion on the podcast hosted by Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pump” Sullivan, the topic centered around immigration policies under the Trump administration.
Ball remarked on what she perceives as a common trait among conservatives—their lack of concern until something affects them personally. She stated, “I mean, how many times do you hear someone say, ‘If it impacts my health or my child’s health, then there’s an issue with the healthcare system’ or ‘because my community feels it, racism is a serious problem’?”
Welch supported Ball’s frustrations, arguing that Latino ICE agents are actively participating in targeting their own communities. She expressed disbelief at how these agents, who often have Latino-sounding last names, can align themselves against people who could be seen as their own.
“It’s almost like you’ve lost your moral compass,” she added. “You see someone with brown skin, and you really don’t recognize how that connects to your own identity.” This sentiment reflects a broader questioning of loyalty and identity within marginalized groups.
Ball continued to emphasize that many self-identified “traditional Americans” don’t accept Latino ICE agents as legitimate members of their community. She stated starkly, “They hate you. They don’t think you belong. You’re perpetuating violence against your own people. It doesn’t make sense to me.”
ICE, when approached for comments, did not provide any responses.
