Kyle Kuzma Critiques NYC Mayor’s Comments on Netanyahu
NBA player Kyle Kuzma has taken aim at New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani, branding him as “cosplaying” as the president amidst a controversial statement about potentially arresting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The forward for the Milwaukee Bucks expressed his thoughts online, suggesting that Mamdani’s speech from last week revealed a greater focus on generating “content” rather than effectively managing the city.
“It’s 2026. People are dressing up as roles they lack the authority, skill, or achievements to embody. All for content,” Kuzma wrote on X this past Sunday, sharing his views on Mamdani’s remarks.
“The president acts like the mayor. The president plays the founder role. Creators exaggerate their professionalism. Everyone seems to be competing for attention rather than contributing meaningfully,” he continued, reflecting on the nature of modern public figures.
He further elaborated, saying this mindset teaches younger generations that the real reward lies not in genuine achievement, but in the pretense of it. “A short clip becomes more valuable than hard work,” he remarked, reminding his audience not to be misled by distractions.
Mamdani’s online video labeled Netanyahu as a “war criminal” due to Israel’s conduct in Gaza. However, during a recent trip to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, he acknowledged that he lacked the legal authority to actualize such a threat.
In 2024, the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Netanyahu’s arrest on allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity, a claim that the U.S. has yet to recognize.
Despite Mamdani’s indications of exploring “all available means” to find ways to detain Netanyahu, he conceded that there were no lawful powers at their disposal to carry it out.
The comments from Mamdani followed a declaration by President Trump, who affirmed that Netanyahu “will not be arrested in any way, shape, or form while in the United States.”
