More than 24 hours have passed since Kentucky Derby fans saw one of the closest finishes in recent memory, and NASCAR fans are set to see a similar one at Kansas Speedway on Sunday night. Photo finishes seemed to be the theme of the race weekend.
Kyle Larson, Chris Buescher, Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin all moved up to the front in hopes of winning big in the Cup Series. Larson and Buescher collided as they exited the final corner.

Buescher stayed calm and looked like he was going to lock in and corner Larson. However, car No. 5 somehow gained speed and barely crossed the line in front of car No. 17. It was the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history, with Larson winning by 0.001 seconds.
“I had no idea if I was going to win,” Larson said. “But to be honest, I didn’t really care. I was like, ‘Well, that was great.'”
That was a little difficult for Buescher’s team to accept. Crew chief Scott Graves asked to meet with NASCAR officials aboard the carrier. He was shown a photo finish and accepted the result.
“I don’t know what to say right now. I’ve never seen any replay other than photos, and you certainly can’t see it in that photo. It sucks to be that close,” Buescher said.

“I think I should have pulled a Lightning McQueen and stuck out my tongue,” he said, referring to the movie “Cars.”
Due to the late warning, he was forced to make a mad dash to the finish. The leaders pitted for adjustments, and Larson ultimately took the win.
“I mean, I always remember this, for sure,” Larson said. “Obviously, there are some wins that you kind of forget in the distance, but when you cross the finish line and get the closest finish in Cup Series history, I don’t think you’ll ever forget that, if ever.” It will break someday. It’s great to be on this side. ”
Pole sitter Christopher Bell, Alex Bowman, Kyle Busch, Noah Gragson and Michael McDowell rounded out the top 10.
