Kyle Shanahan reveals favorite Gatorade color before Super Bowl 2024

As seasoned sports bettors know, you can bet on just about anything during Super Bowl week.

Perhaps the silliest prop bet is the color of the traditional postgame Gatorade bath. This is usually thrown to the winning team’s head coach.

And this week, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan may have hinted at what the colors will be if San Francisco wins on Sunday.

Asked at Monday’s press conference what his favorite Gatorade flavor was, Shanahan replied, “I like orange.”

But orange Gatorade isn’t something he drinks on the sideline.

After being asked a follow-up question about what he drinks on game day, Shanahan answered, “Water.”

Perhaps thanks to Shanahan’s comments, orange (+300) is the favorite to be the first color thrown at the victorious head coach after the game at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Blue, used by the Rams in 2022 and Buccaneers in 2021, is the second most popular color (+370) on FanDuel’s odds board.

Purple was poured on Andy Reid when the Chiefs beat the Eagles in last year’s Super Bowl. Purple has the third-best odds at +390, tied with Yellow/Green.

Shanahan’s drink of choice on game day, Water/Clear, is +750, the lowest odds offered by FanDuel.

Some money went into the clear/water option after the Post pointed out that water was poured into Shanahan’s only liquid shower when he was an NFL head coach in 2017.

Orange has been used in Gatorade showers five times since 2001, more than any other color. According to BetMGM Sportsbook.

Red/pink sits at +550 as a Gatorade color, but if recent history is any indication, it won’t be the choice.

Red/pink has never been used in post-game baths since 2001.

There’s also a shot of no Gatorade shower at all. In that case, all bets on his FanDuel on the prop will be void.
