Kazzy Murray Issues Apology Over Jersey Choice
Kyler Murray, the quarterback for the Cardinals, has said sorry after causing a bit of a stir online. This all happened when he wore a Michael Vick Virginia Tech jersey while posing for photos with Pitbull on Instagram.
Vick, a former NFL quarterback, faced federal indictment back in 2007 for his involvement in a dogfighting ring that resulted in the seizure of around 70 animals, mostly pit bulls.
Murray expressed his regret via social media, later removing the post. “I saw how it affected people and, uh, decided to take it down,” he explained. “I apologize to anyone I upset.” He emphasized, “We will never tolerate animal abuse or dogfights.” Personally, he mentioned he saw it as just wearing a jersey of a player he admired, while at home with his puppy, Trunks. “I treat them like kings,” he remarked, perhaps trying to convey that he cares about animals.
The photo he posted showed him and Trunks in the away Hokies No. 7 jersey, featuring Vick’s name. Vick, who was a star quarterback for the Falcons from 2001 to 2006, was suspended by the NFL in 2007 after he pleaded guilty to charges related to dogfighting and served nearly two years in prison.
Following his release, Vick was reinstated in the NFL in 2009 and played another seven seasons. His history is complicated, though; after his prison time, he defended his past actions and even advocated for changes in dogfighting laws.
Currently, Vick serves as the head coach for Norfolk State, continuing to stay in the public eye in a different capacity.
