A Los Angeles restaurant worker was brutally assaulted after an angry customer claimed staff, including a pregnant waiter, were taking too long to serve food.
Kevin Oxley, a server and host at Voccano, an Asian restaurant and bar, was standing behind the counter on May 19 when a customer started yelling at one of the other employees.
As upset patrons began to leave, Oksradj spoke up on behalf of her pregnant colleague.
“I told him, ‘Please don’t shout at your colleague. She is pregnant. She cannot be going through this stress so please show some respect,” Oxraj said. he told KABC.
“We told him we apologize,” he added. “We told him we’re sorry it took so long.”
The man then returned to where Oksradj was standing and removed his jacket during a violent confrontation.
According to security camera footage obtained by the media, the unidentified man was seen looking down at Oksuladji, who then stretched out his arm and hit the man.
The customer then punched Oxraj in the jaw, sending the smaller man flying backwards.
Oksrad pushed the man back, but as the good Samaritan tried to break up the brawl, the Beast landed a few more jabs in a second attack.
“I felt the rest of the swing,” Oxlaji said. “Eventually a customer got up from the table, jumped out of his seat and was able to push him away, but the guy kept grabbing my arm as he was trying to move away from me… I was reluctant to let him go.”
The employee sustained bruising around his ear and face and remains off work.
Oksradj, who has a tube in his ear to drain excess fluid from his brain, feared the attack could have cost him his life.
“The scariest thing for me was that he brought me here and I could have been dead,” Oxlage said, pointing to the area behind her ear.
“I can’t sleep properly because my whole chest and back hurt,” Oxraj said.
The unidentified customer has not been arrested and has returned to the restaurant at least four times looking for the employee, Oksraj’s mother, Isabel Hernandez, told KABC.
“To be honest with you, I’m scared to step foot in downtown L.A. right now because he told my coworkers, ‘Oh, I’m going to go find him,'” Oxlaj added.
“It was taking forever to order food and I didn’t want it to end like this.”
Earlier this month, an argument over a McDonald’s order led to the shooting death of an attorney.
Jeffrey Rimmer, 46, was allegedly shot and killed by suspect Anthony Martin Landry, 57, after he demanded money from a Houston-area bar employee.
Rimmer intervened and the pair eventually ended up outside in a parking lot, where Landry pulled out a gun and shot the lawyer.
