Accusations Against Labor Secretary Lori Chavez Delemer
Lori Chavez Delemer, the Labor Secretary, faces allegations of retaliating against a female employee who reported her husband’s purported sexual misconduct, according to recent reports.
At least three complaints related to equal employment opportunity have been lodged against her.
Two of these complaints have come from young female staff members who claim that Sean Delemer, the secretary’s husband, sexually abused them at the department’s Washington, D.C., headquarters.
The Post confirmed that these complaints were first reported to another news outlet. Labor Department officials allege that Chavez Delemer created a hostile work environment and engaged in workplace discrimination following the reported misconduct of her husband.
According to the complaints, employees expressed concerns about being punished for speaking out or resisting directives they deemed inappropriate. One specific complaint details how Chavez Delemer instructed employees to perform tasks like cleaning closets, which seems a bit excessive.
These accusations arise amid an investigation into a broader “hostile” work environment allegedly cultivated by Chavez Delemer and her senior aides, as well as other misconduct issues. This investigation came to light earlier this year.
In a related note, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C. opted not to indict Sean Delemer following allegations of sexual misconduct from December 2025.
Moreover, the Federal Protective Service, responsible for investigating crimes in government buildings, also decided not to pursue legal action in this case.
In one incident, Sean Delemer was reportedly seen on surveillance video in his office, hugging a woman for a long period, which prompted D.C. police to review the footage as part of an inquiry into a misdemeanor sexual abuse claim.
Following this incident, he was banned from the building. His lawyer has firmly denied all allegations against him, stating that his client “categorically denies” any wrongdoing.
The Labor Department has yet to respond to the latest inquiries regarding the situation.
