The Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) has launched a seven-figure ad in support of President Biden and his infrastructure investments.
The ads ran in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, key battleground states that Biden endorsed in 2020, targeting union members, union households and “voters of other persuasions.” the union said.
Advertisement It follows Hunter in West Branch, Michigan, a worker who supports Biden.
“People have the opportunity to work and put food on the table, and that’s because of President Biden’s infrastructure investments,” one man said in the video.
Another man emphasized that Biden is “bringing manufacturing back to America.” The ad also shows that Biden will pass bipartisan chip legislation that would provide billions of dollars in incentives to the domestic semiconductor industry in 2022. A scene of him signing was shown.
“All of a sudden, chip factories and battery factories are being built. It’s because of the Democrats and President Joe Biden,” the man in the ad said.
“Everything is booming,” said another man.
The ad was released days after Biden secured the Democratic presidential nomination. Hours later, former President Trump secured the Republican nomination, and the two will face off again in this fall’s general election. Both Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump have begun campaign preparations for what is likely to be another close general election.
“LIUNA members are seeing real results from both President Biden’s investments in our nation’s infrastructure and blue-collar unions’ commitment to creating good jobs,” LIUNA Executive Director Brent Booker said in a statement. “There is,” he said. “The construction industry is progressing smoothly!”
LIUNA’s endorsement is not Biden’s first support for a labor union. The president visited picket lines with striking workers last year and won support from the United Auto Workers (UAW) in January. Biden claims he is the most pro-union president in history.
On Wednesday, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) announced it would spend $200 million to support Biden’s reelection bid. Labor has announced a “massive drive” to mobilize working-class voters of color to support Biden.
